Close Enough

You know, close enough for government work.  Or close enough in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Sometimes, close enough just isn’t close enough.  Seems to be the case for season 2 at CTP teams. After 10 weeks and hundreds of billions of points The SurfAholicsAlpha and Uber Surfers ended up tied.  Even.  Level.

It is amazing to me, but it also seems appropriate, somehow.  The race to first was incredibly closely contested, and both teams really tore it up.  What a finish, what a season.

Lucky 13 finished up in third place for the week and the season, which wasn’t a surprise.  Renegades in 4th and Cash Surfing Network 5th.  For a short season, this one had a lot of twists and turns.

We have BIG News.  We have added a new team member, Rosy DiLuca.  Rosy brings the whole package to the Lucy 13. A monstrous surfer, huge badge collector and sharer.  She is also a tireless promoter and very well recognized person in TE land.  And as if that weren’t enough, she is also genuinely nice.  And did I mention Italian?  Yep.

I am truly looking forward to having Rosy on the team.  Just in time for season 3!

Welcome Rosy. Spero che vi sono vicino felice di far parte di Lucky 13 come vogliamo avere sul nostro gruppo.

Can Women See HD?

No, this has nothing to do with business, TEs, CTP, or teams. This is something that’s been bothering me for quite a while.

A few years ago my husband, Steven, came home with this huge freaking television. When he and I would sit down to watch something, the first 5 minutes of the program was filled with him adjusting width or angle, or something. I really have no idea. It was very annoying.

A few weeks later, I was watching something, and he came through the living room and said “why aren’t you watching that in HD?” I said… “Uh..”

“you know there are HD channels, right?”

“Uh…”

“Here…” He took the remote and found whatever it was I was watching in HD. “Isn’t that better?”

“Uh.. Uh huh. Thank you.”

Seriously… I saw absolutely no difference at all.

I’ve spoken to a few women, not many, I’ll admit, but they say they “don’t really see a difference”. I mean, not to the point where they’ll say to another person “Why aren’t we watching this in HD?”

Over the years, Steven has tried to explain it to me… but… I just don’t get it.

I make videos for my new employer – he told me exactly what dimensions to make it, and how to upload it onto YouTube so it will be in “HD Quality”. He can tell exactly when I don’t do it, and has me do it over. Me… I can’t see it at all.

So… is it that we can’t see it? Or that we don’t care?

Thoughts?

The Tortoise and the Hare – Which one are you?

Many of us know this story, but for those who don’t, here is the basics of it:

The story concerns a Hare who ridicules a slow-moving Tortoise.
Tired of the Hare’s boastful behavior, the Tortoise challenges him to a race.
The hare soon leaves the tortoise behind and, confident of winning, takes a nap midway through the race.
When the Hare awakes however, he finds that his competitor, crawling slowly but steadily, has arrived before him.

Now, when it comes to Internet Marketing, which one of these characters should we seek to model our business plan after? The problem with I.M. today is that there is so much “get rich quick” bull crap out there that folks jump on whichever wagon they think will get them to their goal of riches the quickest. I speak about that in (I think) the third message in my new email series – Transforming the Market.

Those of us who know Jon Olson will know that he always says “slow and steady wins the race.” But are we listening? Why is it that (normally) intelligent people seem to tune out such good advice and jump from one “shinny object” train to the next? Well…. it has a lot to do with folks passing them selves of as “super marketers” and shoving all of that crap down our throats – CONSTANTLY! That’s why you hear of hundreds of people tuning in to some webinar about the latest super-duper money making program and only 40 people at an outstanding live training and discussion like TE Live. Amazing.

Maybe those who keep complaining about not making any money online should consider not only the WHAT, but also the HOW and WHY of what they are doing. I have screwed up so much in the past that I can continually kick myself in the butt. Now that I have laid a proper foundation (after FINALLY paying attention to my CTP training) I have to be even more patient because I have far less money to invest in things than I used to. But at least I know that I SHOULD invest!

Anyway, it is high time we start being serious about what we are doing to make money online and how we are doing it. Maybe we should start listening to the successful folks who tell us the truth about how difficult it was for them to get to that point and how much money it took for them to get there instead of listening to the folks (who may or may NOT be successful) telling us how easy it is to get rich quickly by doing next to nothing? Am I ranting again? 🙂

Thanks again for taking the time to read my blah blah blah.

For those who I may have upset by some of the things I have said, life goes on 🙂

Till next time!

Go Lucky 13 and L13 Too!
